Abstract
The Map Information Assembly and Display System (MIADS) Land
Use/Land Cover Dataset used a grid and encode system to transfer land use/land
cover data from a controlled resource base map to computer. Base maps were
referenced to the Universal transverse Mercator (UTM) map coordinate system.
Instructions for sorting are given through a legend composed of coded resource
symbols. The resulting computer generated county map and data determine extent
and location for the interpretation.
